So I needed to replace a ballast for my t-5s and I found a great deal local and got a Current Sunpod with 2X250 MH. The bulbs that he had in it he said are 14k but he didn't remember the brand. I've looked at the bulbs but cant find a name on them. He said they were from marine depot and that leaves me between Iwasaki, Ushio, Hamilton, Phoenix, and Aquamaxx. He said they are only about 6 months old and I dont really want to replace them now due to being low on funds after buying the fixture. Anyone have any idea what they could be? All it says it MH-250W and underneath it 14,000k.

As odd as it sounds, if you want an id perhaps post a picture of the bulb. And is it a DE ( double ended ) or SE? Also a 6 month old bulb is going to give quite the reduction in par and the spectrum shift is probably noticeable. It will need to be replaced around the 9 month mark to get the best benefits from it. And I know those bulbs are expensive.

I know a picture would help I'll take one, but most bulbs say a brand or something like that on them. I figured if someone had this one they would know it by the description. I plan on replacing them probably next month anyways. I'm kinda happy that they are a few months old because it might make it easier on my corals going from a 4 bulb t-5 set up to this. And it is a DE bulb.

Yes you right about that, much better to start with an older bulb and not burn the heck out of all your stuff.

I have had both the radium and the phoenix and neither has the brand on them I believe. I am pretty sure I looked but I will look again.

And Radium does not make a DE 14k bulb so that rules that out.
