so guys i may have purchased the incorrect bulb here.. just want to make sure before i send it back to marinedepot, or sell it off since there is shipping and a 10% restocking fee i would have to deal with... it is a phoenix 14k de

i have a Bimini hamilton hang on MH fixture, two problems, when i removed the old bulb i noticed printed on the bulb 14k 250w.. yet the guy i bought it from told me it was a 150w fixture.. so im confused there.

second i look at the bulbs and the new one is completely different..

Do you have a separate ballast? Or is it built into the fixture? The information printed on the ballast should tell you what wattage it is.

It looks as if you actually have a 250w fixture though, otherwise your original bulb wouldn't have ever fired.

Your right, the ballast does have information, 250w it is, as for the bulb style problem I am still stumped..

70/100/150W HQI bulbs will have the pressure-fit nipple ends and the 250/400w bulbs have a different form factor; they have heavy-duty snap-in ends, as you know. All the 250w bulbs will be able to work in your fixture, as long as they are compatible ANSI ratings.
Why not call up Marine Depot and see if they will take it back on exchange. They are pretty good about that if you ask for store credit.

    what do you guys think?

since i have 250w over my little 37 gallon, how would a 20,000k be instead of the 14,000k?

i would like the extra blue, would i still get decent growth? anyone have experience with both 20k and 14k?
