so I shattered my glass on my jbj viper hang on fixture while i was doing a water change. I was just wondering is it still ok to run the light until I get a new glass? I have a glass top on my aquarium.

    Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
No you will need to replace that before you run the lighting.

Is this a double or single ended bulb?

If double ended you will need to use tempered glass to shield the corals from UV.

I would highly recommend against it. UV will burn a lot of corals and can kill almost everything. I am not sure if the glass on the tank will be enough to block the UV or not?

absolutely not..........it can not only hurt your eyes if you look into it.......but it will burn your corals. It is better to leave the MH off while you are replacing the glass.

nope not the right type of glass. Not sure what the lens is made of but it is a special lens. Your corals will do best without the light.

The LFS had the glass blow out on their coral system one day and for some reason nobody got around to fixing it.....wihtin 1 week all the corals were burned and dying. Nobody knew what was going on until curt looked up there and said.........ummmm.........uv burns

your corals will do fine without the light for up to a couple weeks. Most important thing is that you do not go back to full cycle when you get the lens.
