im starting a 55g tank and bought the MH for corals and such down the line. i bought the odyssea MH lights since i had the money. now with just the t5 lights on im good. am i going to need to hang them and if so how high from tank? or should i go buy some t5 bulbs til im rdy for corals in a few months? i love the lighting but holy cow on the heat. a chiller is out of the question. how bout the small fans u can mount to the tank? r those any good or just a waste of money?

on a 55 you could mount it 12" off the water and be straight. If your not housing any corals atm then just leave the t5's on for now. And yes small clip on fans will go a long way in making your tank cooler. point em at the surface and youll kill 2 birds with one stone, giving your tank adequate surface agitation and cooling it off.

    you bought the oddyssea,
i have one of those, they are not the greatest quality. You are going to want to replace the stock bulbs it comes with, the bulbs it comes with are extremely low quality, they will give you some algae problems and not much coral growth i found. As soon as i replaced the bulbs i noticed a huge difference. so did my corals.
