So i have been running MH over my 14 gal biocube for almost a year now. i have started another tank that i plan on dominating with sps corals and have decided to move my halides over to it! Will there be a problem with down grading my lights. I know you have to acclimate corals when upgrading lights. What about down grading? I only have softies, zoas, and one small favia in the tank.

I had a softcoral dominated tank that really took off when I went from MHs to PCs. The MHs were actually just too much for them. So, I think you will be fine. You should not need to acclimate them to lower light. Some corals such as the favia and zoas will probably prefer to be up a bit higher, but will depend on the specific corals.

Good Question! ahaha, I never thought about this one before..But if i had to guess..I would reduce the MH lighting somewhat slowly and when you get down to about cutting hours in half, you could throw on the PC's..Im not really sure what would happen to corals if yo ujust throw the PC over the tank right away.

You'll have to watch how the corals respond. You may have to move some up to higher spots of the tank, but I suspect you'll be okay with those corals...
