i have a 55g DT with zoas and some lps corals as well. im running over 700w of lights. my lighting is hanging around 10" from the DT. my zoas love being at the top meaning they are around the middle of the tank since i took some LR out for my sump. i have lunar zaos that are perking up since i moved them from the bottom to the top. with the MH lighting i have 4 acntic blues going at the same time. do those have to be on at the same time? if not then ill be running 500w MH lites. id like to get some sps corals so i know ill have to add some more LR to get them closer to the lite. is this correct? yes i do have fans going cause it does get hot in the tank. i was even thinking about raising them 2 mor inchs just cause of the heat.

wow, that's a lot of light on a 55g tank. I have 2x150 (300W) on my 60 and have no trouble with SPS and and clam, but heat is an issue... My zoas grow in the shade, and the clam is at the bottom of the tank.

As for actinic lights... I mean... if you want more light.... I find a nice set up is to have actinics come on about 30-45 minutes before the MH and stay on for about an hour after the MH turns off,
