MH with plants

    if i just use MH which is 500w for a 55g DT hanging 10" will i be okay to put micro algae in my DT?

    Thats alot of light centered over one spot. WHy not 250w? Why are you going to put micro algae in the DT?

    micro algae as in phytoplankton? if this is so then you are already growing it but you dont need near as much light
    macro algae as in chaeto, calupera, etc.? then yes, this light would be plenty enough if not too much. honestly you would only need a 150w halide or equivalent t5 or LEDs

    500wat ter? thats a bit much, no? ;p but that should be more than enough for pretty much anything

    yes i anm planning on putting micro algae in my DT. why not? its in the ocean why not in a tank. i could turn the MH off and change some bulbs for t5s but it just dont look the same.
