This looks like an awesome deal and a very very slick light fixture. Comes with bulbs, ballast and everything. Good deal?

what about this one? (id prefer this one if it isnt crap) this one also comes with bulbs and ballast. Everything. Including hanging kit like the one above.

i have two of the 150 mh 17inch on my 75 gallon and i am very pleased with them. sure when the bulbs wear out i'll put better bulbs in. i bought mine from topdogsellers on ebay instead of aquatraders simply because i couldn't get any response from them and topdog answered every question asap. it is 109.00 shipped from topdog but at least i can talk to someone on his end. you won't regret it. the price is too good even if later you have to replace the ballast you still come out ahead.

Why are t5s so cheap right now? I see a 96 watt fixture for 69 bucks and one for 89 bucks (both 96 watt) and both of them come with bassast and all bulbs. one of the web sites lets you pick each bulb. they even carry pink! is the pink like the fiji light bulbs?

Well you do get what you pay for to some extent, I would replace the stock bulbs immediately, hopefully you can get by on the stock ballast for a while...

    (regarding odyssea mh fixtures)

those odyssea fixtures arent total crap... but the color spectrum and life of the bulbs isnt great, the ballasts just plain wont fire some bulbs... and they dont last any long.

so as long as you plan to spend about 150-200 at some point upgrading them they are dirt cheap and even a crap mh fixture is gonna be brighter and look better than some PCs or regular fluoros. the fixtures themselves are relatively attractive.

but you WILL notice a big difference if you compare
the light from this fixture with a 1st tier brand.

now after you swap bulbs and ballast it may in fact look better than a 1st tier fixture w/ stock bulb/ballast.

if your current lighting isnt that great i say go for it, do realize that you could spend abt the same amount on a quality fixture after you make yhe upgrades
