Hello, I was hoping there may be a solution to my problem. I have my protein skimmer in my sump, which doesn't have a heck of a lot of room, and my return pump is right next to it, just fitting in there. The skimmer produces lots of bubbles which are then pumped up to the tank, filling the tank with bubbles.

Just curious if there is a fix to this. Here is a picture below, and my tank which is still cycling.

Any ideas, or experiences? I was thinking of building a little bubble trap in the sump, its just that there is not much room to work with, I would have to get an external return pump to do that.

Can you turn it at all so that it's maybe returning on the side of the sump? I'd also remove the bio balls and replace it with live rock rubble. Maybe you could use the bio balls to break the return flow and disipitate the bubbles?

Place a sponges either on the exit pipe from skimmer or where the water hits the surface exiting the skimmer. That will solve your problem.

The sponges don't fix the problem at all. In the picture the skimmer does have a sponge which is where water exits. Doesn't help at all, still produces tons of microbubbles.

Adjust the air intake valve on the skimmer.
