I have a HOB overflow thats sucking some air. Its going into the intake section of my sump then to the pump. lots of bubbles in the sump that are getting sucked up by the pump. I put a small fish net over the intake to help but its doing very little. whats the best solution? will this kill my clowns?

Do you have filter sock on the intake plumbing going into your sump?

I can wait and don't worry I'll be gentle. lol

Adding a filter sock would probably help.

haha thats funny. but I couldnt get my camera to work but heres a picture thats the basic design as mine. Left side is the intake, middle is the fuge, and right is the return. the only thing different with mine though is that you switch the return and the fuge so that the return is in the middle and the fuge and intake are on the ends.[IMG]

One option may be to run the piping down under the water from the overflow to the bottom of the sump so the bubbles will float up. this will sometimes help minimize the amount of bubbles returning to the DT.

My sump is 16" deep. My overflow pipe runs down about 14" into the sump. When the water flows back up the bubbles stay at the top and pop on the surface.

It may be hard to see but the pipe runs down into the sump and the water runs back up over and down through the filter sock
