I just added a 400gph pump to my skimmer(remora) and puts out a lot more water which is making a LOT more micro bubbles. My return from my sump is just flooding my tank with them. What can I do?

Do you have the water that exits the skimmer going into the area where the water first enters the sump?

The skimmer is going right into my return.

You have to make or do something that will guide the water to the return side so that the micro bubbles will have time to burst.

This is what I did, I extended the pvc where the water left the skimmer, put in a ball valve and drilled a hole where the bio balls are and problem solved. Let me know if this helps or if that just doesn't make sense.

it mite just be me, but 400 gph sounds like to much water. you want the water to stay in the skimmer long enough to get skimed, lol. your getting bubbles, because youve overloaded the skimmer.

I figured it out!!!!! I had a 200 micron filter sock that I had on my intake for my sump. I just slipped the sock over the pump and presto, no more micro bubbles......from the return.

I run a 400 gph on my Remora and it works great. Talked to Aqua C on the phone and they said that I would get more bubbles out the discharge but I told him it is in my sump with baffles so it won't get back to my display tank. He said there is a lot of people that have modified them. Just run your collector cup up a little more or you will be skimming wet. Create some baffles if the sock doesn't keep working. JME

The sock is working great. I had another baffle failure so I have decided to take my refung out and put it in a 3gal bucket and have that overflow into my return. And the return for the refung goes to inside the bag so any escaping pods make it into the tank.
