I have an AquaMaxx HOB protein skimmer running on my 60 gallons tank since mid September. I am still experiencing the microbubbles pumping into the tank from the outletof the skimmer. What would you advice how to reduce or eliminate the microbubbles?

    Thank you much in advance.

Is there a spot where a filter sponge piece can be inserted? If so that might help catch some of the bubbles.

I was thinking about to place a filter sponge at the outlet of the skimmer, but it is kinda eye sores. I will try to give shot.

    Thx.

When the sponge clogs, your skimmer will overflow. Don't block the outlet or put anything around the outlet.

Do you have the microbubble issue all the time our just when you feed and/or dose your tank? Is your airline open all the way? Increased air intake will slow the water intake of your pump. Thus making water move slower through the skimmer.

Good point about the sponge clogging. I guess if you're going to do it then you gotta stay on it.

I do have the micro bubbles all the times, regardless of feeding nor dosing. I have my airline opened all the way.

I did made adjustment to the airline, but it did not help that much.

is this a hang on the back skimmer??? if so i just purchased a skimmer box just a rectangle box that is split into two. one side has pump in it and has a lower edge to skim the water the other side has a opening in the bottom of the box and the top the skimmer dumps into top and comes out the bottom. I was able to put a sponge filter in this box and it cut my bubble back by about 85% and if for some reason it backs up the water will just over flow the top of the box into the tank
