This is probably a stupid question but I have to ask it anyways so here goes.

I have a 7" Micron sock on my sump and it has gotten pretty ugly looking since I filled my tank, you know the dust from the sand at start up. I was told I could just wash them out and reuse them.

What is the best method to do this?

Told you it was a stupid question.;D

I can't do that as my wife would have a cow if I done that so I have to resort to the hands in the sink gig. :-/

Do you put it in anything like a pillowcase or do you just toss it in the washer?

Nope, just toss it in the washer. Wash with a little bleach on gentle using the two rinse cycle. The second rinse is important. Then hang dry. They are almost dry coming out of the spin cycle anyway. The sock should be changed out and washed twice weekly.
