I forgot to mention the origins of the pair of neon gobys. I picked them up for free as orphan fish. At Reefstock they had some tanks set up to showcase the complete systems, which Elite Reef bought for store displays. As I went to load them in the truck they still had a little bit of water and sand in the bottom and I happened to notice movement in the 1/2" of water on the bottom. Two my surprise I found two little neon gobys cuddled up and looking very frightened. I lucked out on that one and got two little neon gobys that are way to friendly NOT to be mates. I love fish that create food for my other fish.

I'm breaking down today and I'm actually going to do a 5% water change on this system. I've been starting to have some problems keeping my params right where I want them and I suspect it's because I can't possibly dose everything that comes in salt mix. I don't dose mag and don't really feel the desire to, so my calcium levels are beginning to slip below the 400 mark. It's been about a year since I've done a water change and just as long since I had any problems keeping params in line. I'm hoping a few small water changes over the next month will get things back in line and give me the buffer I need to go back to my regular routine.

I love your aquascaping. With the way you have done it, your tank looks HUGE in photos. I love your corals and your new brain.

Thank you. That's what I was going for. I like the look of nano cube style aquariums, but I really like the stretch, scaled down look of my long 30.

Today I finally added the last piece of tech gear for this tank. For some extra insurance against power outages, I added Ecotech's battery backup for the MP10 pump. It is rated to run the pump for 72 hours without power!

That is the only thing..... I don't have any power back up on my tank. Power is interupted very rarely here... but ya, I would be scrabbling.

    Thank you.

It's pretty rare here also, and it doesn't usually go out for long. The one bad one last year though I was up all night stirring the water occasionally to keep gas exchange going. Not this year...
