I don't test it, but judging my my calcium level right now, it should be around 1600.

you like to run a little on the upper end. Your stuff looks good.
For some reason my mag keeps dropping when alk and cal stay the same. Water is slightly milky looking any (milky before I tested and found low mag) thoughts
    alk is 10
    cal 460
mag dropped to 1245 so dosing that to get it back up and at 1275 yesterday.. 25mg a day is what I have been dosing

    sorry for slight hijack

Looking good. The corals are really starting to cover that back wall. It will look awesome when they get the whole thing filled in. What type of magnet are you using in the back of the tank for those frags? I'm wanting to buy a magnetic frag rack but I want the "dry" magnets to go into the return section in the back of the tank. This way the frag rack will be hidden behind my rocks. What type of magnets are you using that will allow you to submerge them? Thanks!

I try to stay in the middle of the range, but I'm still working on figuring out how much calcium and magnesium my tank needs without two feet of clams in it.

Magnesium needs to be at about three times the amount of calcium for the calcium to stay in solution. With your calcium that high and your magnesium dropping, your calcium may be precipitating and causing the cloudyness. It sounds like you're on the right track by boosting your magnesium though, so I'd just keep doing what you're doing. When you get magnesium to about 1400, your calcium should stop precipitating out of suspension and in theory, your water should clear up.

There's a huge amount of chemical interaction going on in a tank though, so it very well may be something completely different as well. Just keep trying to shift one thing at a time slowly, and you will find the key through elimination.

    Thank you!

The corals that are growing on the back wall were just glued on and let go from there. Hopefully they make it through the tank move next weekend...

The rock on the back wall with green stylophora on it is magnetic. I use a big mag float in the back chamber to hold it. It came with pretty weak magnets that wouldn't hold even the little colony that's on it now.
