Well some bad news, I lost the YWG. He died of some sort of parasites in his gills. I presume, Ich. :(

I spoke with the LFS I bought it from and they offered to give me another one or store credit. I don't really trust their Livestock in the first place, so I'm going to get some kalk or something from them.

if you r anemone is not in great great health an anemone crab will not be good. if you have a healthy nem the crab wont make a difference but if its just kinda moving along a crab can bring it down. they will pull on the tentacles and eat them and arent very healthy for the nem. however there are some realistic fake nems you can get for the crab because they arent picky like clowns

    Update:

So after the loss of the YWG (RIP), I was going nuts trying to find out what was wrong with my tank.:( I couldn't see anything wrong. I guess fate had it, that I was not supposed to have the YWG. My LFS got their stock in this past tuesday, the 22nd, and guess what came in....

A bit of a gamble, but I couldn't pass him up. He's got a little tearing on his Dorsal fin, but it has gotten much better (since tuesday) and looks like it's going to heal up well. This is the first Striped Prawn Goby that I have ever seen in any LFS and I love that he's in my tank.

Sorry for the bad quality pics, he's still a little shy and It's hard to get a good shot of him. He's coming out a lot more now, and is eating well.

LMK what you guys think. :)

I just started a about 2.5 years ago at the tender age of 25.

Had a 12g Freshwater, then bumped up to a fully planted 30g FW, then up to a 55 Salt.

Key is... where possible get used tanks. I paid $30 for the 12, $30 for the 30, and $60 for the 55... Setup was still wicked expensive for the salt though. I figure everything so far (tank, 50# LR, 50# LSand, Can Filter, Lighting, Powerheads) including Livestock has run me around $1200-1300.

I told myself I wouldn't get into salt until I could get a decent sized tank...55 was the smallest SW I would have wanted to do because of the space requirements of SW Fish...and I wanted multiple inhabitants.

Cost is all in the setup though, once it's up and running your good to go (until you see that next coral, or figure well I could use another powerhead...)

    Good Luck

I have one and love it. Are you gonna get a pistol shrimp to pair with the orange stripe prawn?

Thanks, and it's okay. Reef and learn I suppose.

No. I have the cleaner shrimp and the pistol shrimp would kill them, or cause aggression problems. I also want him to be out and about instead of in his burrow all the time. ;D Too beautiful a fish to only see half of all the time, know what i mean?

Cheers to having the same great fish! I'm loving mine already. :)

I agree, go without the pistol. The fish are out much more and it is a beautiful goby.
