    hi all,
new here.i just made a sump out of my bata tank.its a 2.5gal and had fun doing it.took me a day but its done.its my prototype.now i have a question.how do you figure out the flow rate.i made it for my sea horse tank.its a 10gal or 12gal.now im trying to figure out the flow rate.the return pump is going to be a mini jet 404.it moves water 108gph and can be adjusted to 18gph if need be.how do i set the overflow box or should i say how big should it be to keep water level in the sump right?or does it depend on the size of the out flow tube?

usually the tank will fill as fast as it drains. you want little flow in there if its for seahorses

does it matter on the size of the over flow box?

Height from sump to tank plus any elbows or bends in plumbing. This will allow yu to calculate the exact GPH needed.

And you want about 100 gph into the tank? so about 250-270 GPH should be good.

do you know of a pump that would do that at a cheap price.i might just do the mini jet 606 pump.unless theres one u know of.keep in mind the mini sump is only a foot long and 6 inches wide.
