I'll try and keep it short.

Noticed some wet carpet, Sg dropped slightly- due to my constant RO/DI ATO feed. I shut off the ATO feed, to preserve my SG yesterday. Everythings still pristine however! This morning it was 1.0245

After investingation, I think it's coming from my DIY plastic RM sump in my stand. I can't find any water dripping from the DT anywhere!

I built a stand yesterday for another 50g RM sump to go in my basement, directly under my DT in the family room. I have all the tubes, hardware, etc to drill a few holes and plumb to the basement. The Stand is to get back ~3ft of head Ht. on the return pump. I am also taking three 90degree bends OUT of the return line- that's like 3 ft of head pressure they say!

I'm hoping after I drain the one currently in the stand that I will find the slow leak.

I always wanted to do this- now it forced my hand.

I'll may even start a new thread on it with pics soon.

The important thing is- all my coral, fish, etc are still well at this point!

Good luck with everything, leaks suck. I thought my DT was leaking so I pulled the whole thing apart and resealed it only to realize it was my DIY overflow box that was leaking. My advice would be to check the simple stuff first, plumbing, etc. May save you a ton of time and the headache that I went through.

Good thing you caught the salinity drop!

If it isn't already, upgrade your return plumbing size to 1-1/2". It will give you much more flow.

Thanks, and yes, I have been double checking everything that could possibly be the cause.

I've wanted to plumb to the basement anyways, as I have an area directly under the DT in the family room that would be ideal. Too bad I don't use MH lights, my basement stays in the 60's.

    Thanks,

My overflow to the sump is 1&1/2 inch.

My return is 1 inch, and I planned on leaving it that way.
The new plumb will have Spa house all the way, and no other bends except the U over the top edge.

You'll be happy with a basement sump. My tank temp never rises in the summer.

Success! My DT is now plumbed directly underneath to my basement! Gotta get a few things tweaked, so far so good.
Sure is nice, no more cramped stand area for the sump

Everything still good. It's hard to move your sump, all the equipment that goes with it and work full time, other commitments, etc.

I got all the peripheral things moved last night- skimmer, lights for my chaeto, power head and my DIY Phos reactor, DIY ATO, etc.

I'm still planning on posting some pics soon

PIcs of my Basement sump move...

Everything has been perfect since I was forced to move my sump to the basement, now it's on it's own stand so I can get back some of the head height vs putting it on the floor.

I still haven't really found the previous leak- no worries though, everything is dry now.

I used the 1 1/2inch flexible Sump pump hose for my overflow to the sump.

And I sprung for the Spaflex 1inch hose for the return- no more 90 bends!!

You can see all my equipment in the sump pic...

PS- Thats a 50 gallon sump!!

YOu can see my filter sock, PS compartment with PS, Just behind the PS on the wall is my UV filter, The vertical blue plastic wall is to shield the light from my 200w's of chaeto basket light from the PS, then the water goes to the large/packed chaeto basket, then to the return pump section which has my Phosguard reactor (no more cyano!!), and my RO/DI fed ATO, then to the return and the DT!
