i have it layered in the fuge on the bottom witha little sand to keep it in place... nitrates 0 iron i dont have to but i do anyway. it has gold in the "mud" and its kind of like sand when it settles. it settles really fast too. the calerpa takes care of the nitrates. karma for you for asking the right questions. hook it up please....;P
Hey Marc,
Do have to dose anything that the Kents is suppose to supply? That is one way to find out if it is working. Also how are your nitrate levels? Your using it as a substrate on the tank floor? I ordered 12lbs of the Kents for my fuge. When is is wet is it sand like or does it turn into a mud? Everyone seem to love there Miracle Mud but It is like 4X more expense than the Kent's I might just end up mixing the two.
As of yet we didnt have to add anything (supplements). Even the calcium is a little high'ish. The tank is a 12 gal nano code DX from JBJ and yes we are using it as the substrate on the tank floor and the 12lbs bucket was plenty for a nice SB. It does look like sand not like a mud. Its a little coarser than aragamax or any sugar size sand but it still looks good and its suppose to do the job pretty good, plus cost 50$ for the bucket. Oh trates are low last time i checked but the tank was still in cycle. Ill check with the owner of the tank, my friend at work reef_novice, but im pretty sure there low. If you need anymore info let me know ill check it out for ya! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

    Marc.

Got got the kent's in today I don't know if I am going to use this stuff. I might just toss it in with the rest of the sand in the tank. It looks pretty much like sugar sand to me. i think I might cought up the serious cash for the Miracal Mud. $21 dollars for 12# of sugar sand isn't a very good deal.

I just set up my fuge last week. I was done by midnight and the water turned merky. It cleared by morning. Two days later I received my Chaeto. So far everything looks okay. Last night I was staring into the fuge and saw a few pods crawling aroung. I was thinking on driving to the beach this weekend and picking up some clams to throw into the fuge. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
