    Good morning,

I have had my reef now since july of last year, I have a 75 gallon reef and want to go to a 265 gallon but i have one thing stopping me.

I cant keep the fish ALIVE!

In my tank currently I have a Green scooter blenny, Blue Regal Tank, Yellow Tang, long spine sea urchin and a fire fish.

In the last month my yellow watchmen and my red Scooter Blenny have disapeared. I think there dead. I pay really close atention to my fish daily thats why it stuns me to have them one night and for them to be gone the next day.

In the last 3 months i also lost a fox face, a black blenny, at least 5 yellow and green citron goby's, 2 royal garmas, 2 clown fish and a 6 line.

Do these type of fish not last long.

My water paramiters according to my readings are good. my lfs tested my water good to. todays paramiters are

    Nitriet 0
    Amonia 0
    PH 8.2
    Nitrate 20
    Phosphate .5
    KH 11
    Salinity 1.024
    Temp 78

My paramiters have always been rite around there.

    My equipment is :
    20 long refugium
    100 gallon rated protien skimmer
    5 Watt UV steralizer

    What am i doing wrong.

Have you tested for stray voltage?

How do you acclimate your fish? Do you get all of these fish from the same LFS? If so, where do they keep their salinity? Do they dose their tanks with copper (which weakens the fish)?

How to i test for stray voltage?

The lfs depends, i have used 3 diferant companies. my mane lfs keep the tanks @ 1.020. I aclimate the fish by dripline over a 2 hour period. I used to use a method that one lfs used by applying small slits in the bags allowing dt water to get in the bag. but im not sure the aclimation is my problem. The fish will usualy live 4 to 6 weeks. my recent 2 that died were 4 months to 6 months. I have not asked if they dose there tanks in copper but most fish i buy have corals in the tanks and i asume they would use copper because its bad for the corals.

Ever hear clicks or pops? Are the fish bodied recoverable? If so are they chewed up by your CuC or a MANTIS SHRIMP! I think its a mantis shrimp.

Also, isnt it bad to have that many goby's in one tank? Wont they fight for food and what not?

No clicks or pops. I cant find the fish bodies. The only shrimp I have is a pistol shrimp. Could he be killing my fish.

stray voltage is zero. I used a DMM. Do you think i got a acurate reeding or should i be using an analog MM.

Well mantis shrimp are pretty sneaky sometimes.. Try to come down at night like at 2am or so and with lights off just listen for any noises in your tank an use a red flashlight to look for a mantis or any kind of crab. There are many interesting hitchikers... I had a friend who got an octopus hitchking his 210g tank and he killed many of his fish, till he got him, he ended up buying another tank for the lilguy lol.

ok I fibbed a little. sorry. I do have stray voltage in the tank. When everythings plugged in i have around 14VAC. I unplugged everything and it goes to MV usualy meaning 0VAC. I unplugged everything in the water and it still mesures voltage. Is there something i can do to eliminate the stray voltage or is that voltage good
