So about three, three and a half weeks ago, I got a great looking black-cap jaw-fish from Elite. He took right away, made himself a perfect den and was feeding daily with the fish. Everything was going fine, (I have a Bio-Cube 29) until the jaw fish jumped in the back of the tank. I have converted the back to a refug and for that little space had a ton of micro algae growing. The pour Jaw fish was in the back for an undisclosed time floating on the top of the micro algae with little water to breath in. I put him back in the tank and have not seen him since, that was about a week ago. Do you guys/gals think the fish is dead? I checked my water with my outdated (expired) salifert Nitrate test kit and got five different reading, all ranging from 0 to 10 ppm. My wife and I scoured the tank for any dead fish parts and found nothing. What do you guys think?

put this one down as Missing In Action for a bit longer IMHO
they do spend a lot of times hidden in dens so the shock may mean it takes longer to show itself again

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you have a CUC they can make short order of a dead fish, hours infact.
