I got my Skunk cleaner shrimp on thursday night. I brought him home and acclimated him by dripping water in the bag over the course of an hour. I finally put him in my tank, He first went into where my diamond goby has made his home unders two rocks, and then after awhile he went on one of the rocks and chilled there for a while on the top and bottom of that rock. The last time I saw him he was just chillin on the top of that rock before I went to bed. I havent seen him since, I tought maybe he was just hiding because he was new, but today is sunday and thats 3 days of hiding. Im ready to remove all the rocks and look for him but I dont want to stir everything up. I also have 2 emerald crabs, a lawnmower blenny, 4 blue-green chromis, and 2 small clowns. I dont think any of them messed with him but I dont know what to do. I dont know if he molted as soon as I got him havent seen and sign of that.
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks!

He might be molting, when they molt, they hide really good. Luna

How long has your tank been set-up? My cleaner is very apt to coming out during feeding time. It's out and in view 95% of the time. Before tearing your tank apart, try looking for it with a flashlight from all angles. They are pretty easy to spot even their antannae.

Tank has been setup and running as of march 1st this year. I looked at all angles that I could of with my flashlight, and didnt see it (I looked for the antennas). Ive looked for the last 2 days. My levels that I can check are good no ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, PH is between 8.2-8.2. Salinity is 1.021. I use only Deionized reverse osmosis water since the begining, it is the only water in my tank. I also added melafix to the water the same day to help my clown because he had white stuff on his eye. If he is hiding under the rocks that my goby dug out it would be impossible to see him unless he came out. I tried to squirt some brine shrimp behind the rocks so he can get food if he is hiding behind there, and still didnt come out. Im just concerned because I had a fire shrimp that died on the 3rd day I had him for no apparent reason, the levels were all good then too. He just turned over and died.

If you are dosing iodine, I'd stop (unless you are testing for it). O-dosing iodine can cause pre-mature molting and even death.

Also, I don't think it's worth the effort to tear apart your tank to find it. If it is alive and in a cave or, hiding spot and you spend all that time tearing your tank apart when it will eventually come out. Or, tearing apart your tank only to find out it is dead. Omard had a shrimp re-appear after a long time. I'd wait it out.

I dose Iodine, purple up, and strontium & Molybdenum. Not all at the same time and not that often. I used the Iodine about a week ago and purple up last night, and the strontium & molybdenum about two weeks ago. I'll just wait it out and hopefully it will show up.

Purple up also contains iodine. So, dosing iodine and adding purple up may cause issues. Not saying that is what's going on, just something to consider.

Your salinity is also kind of low. I keep mine at 1.024 to 1.025.

Thats exactly your problem, too much Iodine. Have you been testing for it? FYI......if you dose it, you must test for it. I would stop dosing all of that stuff and just do WC's. Luna
