Darn UPS--they don't hit my abode until after 5 pm. :(

    I know the feeling.

So, for some reason, my 20k bulb looks like a 14k:confused: I have my suspicions that it may be my ballast cranking on it. What are your opinions? If my ballast is pushing on it too hard and giving it a 14k look, is it justifiable to exchange it? I mean, my "test bulb" was an odyssea 20k and it looks better than a sps blue life.

What ballast do you have? I've read that the better bulbs exhibit their "truer" color with electronic ballasts. I'm guessing you have that since your setup is quite new. I had two 150W SPS Blue Life 14K bulbs before I swapped for 250s. Attached to the Coralife magnetic ballasts, the SPS 14Ks weren't blue at all.

It's actually a magnetic ballast. The bulb that came with the system said "blue", not 14k. This new bulb looks the same.

Gotcha. My original bulbs from Coralife were 10K and were probably bluer in appearance than the SPS Blue Life 14 bulbs. Now I have 20K bulbs from AquaTraders that were about $15 apiece. They're pretty blue, but weren't as blue as I thought they'd be.

My next bulbs will be 14K SPS I think. Now that I have better ballasts I'm hoping they'll be fairly blue. I do want good growth, though.

    We'll see.

Just received/installed my new R/O DI unit. Very easy installation. AirWaterIce rocks!
