Mixing CC and Argonite?

Hi,

I'm may answering my own question, but I like thinking aloud and know that at times I can miss the obvious.

The background is I had a 10+ year old 130 gal tall glass show tank in my office that decided to spring a leak. I caught it after it dumped 20-30 gal on the carpet. Good thing I'm on a concrete slab. After much panic I drained it and moved the boys to my 55 hospital and home tank. I only lost 1 clown. Whew. Since I'll never trust a fixed glass tank it was time for a new toy and I bought a 210.

Now, as per another thread I added 300 lb of Tropical Play Sand. I was thinking of adding the 90 or so of primarily CC and 100ish snails to this sand to jump start the bio. Now, I'm not sure this is the best thing to do. Here are my pros and cons...

1. Adding the living sand will speed up the cycling of the tank. Big pro.
2. It certainly makes getting the sand stirrers into the new tank easier. I don't look forward to trying to pull out 100 snails by hand.
3. I like the way the Argonite looks better than CC. As the sand settles, I believe the CC will tend to work it's way to the top. Have any of you had this happen or is this just the result of my paranoia. BTW, with this hobby, I believe paranoia is very very good.

So, mix or not? If not, I'll just put a few pounds in to seed the bed.

Whoops, being new I have not read all the threads. I just read moving sand bed to new tank. I think most of the points were covered. So much for being lazy and moving 100 snails the easy way.
