mixing salt

    im filling up my tank for the first time and was wondering if i should premix the salt i brute containers or fill the tank and sump and then mix the salt in the sump and DT

    You can mix it in the DT if you have no fish, inverts. You can only do this the first time in a new setup. After that you want to premix your water and let it aggitate for 24 hrs before adding to your DT

    i found it much easier to premix my water when initially setting up my system. but what one prefers , someone else might not. just sharing my experience. what size of tank do you have?

    When I started my tank I only filled it a little over 3/4 of the way with fresh water and then mixed in the salt that way I had some wiggle room if my sg was too high. Then when I added the sand there was still room left for the water displacement.
