So I was mixing water to do a water change today and I woke up to see the temp at 89!

How can I get this down?

    Thanks

Your tank water was 89 or your mix up water was 89? If the tank is that hot turn the lights off and run a fan over the tank. if it's the tank you need to figure out why it's that hot. Heater broken???

If it's the make up water just let it sit at room temperature for a while.

its the new water in a bucket that is 89. I have to leave a top on it so animal hair doesnt get in it because I have 2 cats and a dog. I had a heater on it last night and took it off when it got to 80 but not its at 89!

Put Ice in some plastic bags , What I'd suggest is that you fill a few old 2 liter coke type bottles with R/O water and keep them frozen all the time and when a fast fix is needed float a few in the tank or sump. Just leave about 3 inches from the top when you fill them then leave the cap a little loose to allow for expansion.

P.S add a airstone to that bucket of hot water and some ice its about depleted of any O'2 at this point.

That's not that big of a deal Horton. If anything the higher temp helped dissolve the salt better. I'd take the heater out and let the water cool down to the same temp as the tank and then do your water change.

What kind of heater did you use to warm it up? I guess to play it safe next time, take the water off before it reaches the temperature you want it to end at.
