It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Are you going to add a skimmer? Will the CPR hold a skimmer?

My old 17 gallon had a sweet carpet anemone, pair of clowns and some sea grass. Filtration was a skilter...

I like the rimless look to the tank. My concern would be the small volume of water and sps stability.....

Tons of different ways keep a tank, it will be interesting to see what you do with it.

Thank you :), I've always loved mixed reefs but mixed reefs of this style and size.
I'll post some pics of the planted tank tomorrow, as it looks way nicer, and maybe a few of the little pond.

Sorry I do not have an image of that tank, it was before digital cameras.....

It was a 17 gallon tall just like that. Skilter and ghetto lighting held up by 2X4's. Just something I pieced together, much like you're doing. It was great tank wish I did have images.

Some pics are yellowish white because the led is on that setup (100% then 100% W and dimmed down blues)

I would say it sounds like quite the challenge.just cause you want to cross the spectrum from rics & zoas which are sometimes happier with less than pristine water to SPS which like more crystal perfect water. Have to consider flow for the two. SPS of course high turn over where as softies not so much. I would definitely consider more live rock. the live rock you could almost build up into a center mound which would create a breaker allowing you SPS on one side (near the powerhead) and your softies and less demanding on the other side. for your display fuge you way want to consider a front to back slope of rock rubble. this will allow you much more room for rubble and the slope will also give you more top surface area to plant you display macros. A small upflow ATS could also be an option in the fuge, even placing it infront of the return pump (with space of course and a pump cover to protect from loose algae) to give you a more totl natural look.
