Anyone else have moisture and mildew problems under their stand where the sump is?

What are you solutions for combating this?

Right now I am considering cutting out a section and installing some window screen to increase ventilation.

    Thanks

I have a dog that goes p near the stand and that is the only thing leading to moisture in the area. I think that ill kick him for this but otherwise i have cleaned any water in the area to prevent this same problem.

In the stand under my display tank where the sump is. Ventilation is poor and the water evaporating from my sump has to go somewhere. I am curious what others that may have had this problem have done to remedy.

Here is a picture where you can see some of the offensive on the door:

Your problem is that pvc tube that is above the water line and facing the door. That also explains why you have salt creep running down the outside of your sump. That drain should continue into your sump(under the water line), making a U or a L shape. Hope that made sense.

    No, I am confused.

I had the drain at one point under water and my sump had a serious "burping" problem that I read in order to resolve the drain had to be above water.

Can you please explain more what you mean?

Thanks I really appreciate you help!

You could always pull the door, sand and seal it with some poly. that way any moisture that makes its way back will just evaporate. Is the back of the stand open or skinned in?

The reason why your getting all this moisture/mildew and salt creep is b/c your final drian pipe is above the water line and is crashing against that filter sock, causing a "mist" . Try this; remove that 45 elbow, extend the pvc drain all the way to the bottom of the sump. Install (2) 90's, if you have a refug incorporated into your sump, you will need to add pvc to that last 90 until it reaches the waterline. You will end up having your pvc drain pipe either in a L shape or a U shape.
