Today I lifted the lid to 140 gal. to find mold on the inner panel of the canopy. Any new fish I put in seem to get sick and die, starfish included, but crabs and snails are doing fine, as is the cleaner shrimp. And through the fish troubles my two maroon clowns were fine as well. Well I noticed today that the female looks...not so good. And the male doesn't seem interested in coming out of hiding. Could the mold be related? Even if it isn't, how do I clean it without risking my aquarium? I've actually debated through the problems just stripping, cleaning, and re-cycling my tank. Is this the best option?

The only things in there are the snails and crabs, one cleaner shrimp, two maroon clowns, potentially a clown goby but I haven't seen him since he went in, an emerald crab, and a few low-light corals.

Ditch that canopy, build a new one - or buy one that is coated correctly.

Then do a 30 percent water change, try to get the water at the same sg and same temperature as your tank is now.

What I do to acclimate the water to the tank is use gravity flow.

With 5 gallon buckets and a 1/4 inch tube I siphon the water into the tank, while at the same time I remove water from my sump using the same method- it works really well.

We just fixed a canopy that had mold. We wiped the mold off, sanded it down and put a new clear coat on it.
