well my dad aka dreamcrusher has told me my room smells like mold. no one else smells it but he swears it wreaks of mold. not knowing if hes just trying to crush my dreams of a saltwater fish tank or not i started to clean and take down a tank. my room is small 12x12 and i manage to cram in a 55 gal with a 10 gal fuge next to it, a 10 gal molly tank,a 29 bio cube, and an eclipse tank 6 gallons mabe??? so in my cleaning i found a bucket with some old salt water in it cleaned that up took down the eclipse tank ( it had feeder crabs for my mantis in it) and consolodated into my molly tank for now. the only other place it can be coming from is my plumbing from my 55 to my fuge. its really really hard to see if its leaking. so now im playing the waiting game to see if it gets better ... my window is open and my room is an ice box fortunately all my heaters can handle bigger loads so they are keeping up. if this doesnt work ill hafta tear down the 55 to see if its leaking. if thats the case ill be doing an upgrade to mabe a 180 :) more to spite my dad then to benefit me. i did want to upgrade that tank but only to a 95 or so but bigger is always better in the case of dreaming big and conquering the dream crusher :) .......so thats my vent of the day :)

Get some good carbon in the system a carbon reactor would be the best bet or some sort of hanging device and a steady flow of system water through some good quality carbon in a bag . I have to change mine every 3 months or so or it starts to smell like a salt marsh at low tide and check the humidity levels also may need to exhaust some room air into main house or out the window.. .Oh you could also get a room ozone unit if it is truly mold a mold issue

my window is almost always cracked to keep the temp in check i have a hob filter on the 55 tank now with 4 carbon filld filter pads i clean them every other day and replace them every 2 weeks or so. the bio cube has the bio cube filter pad plus a large carbon sock and the molly tank has a hob filter with a carbon filter pad and rio skimmer filter all tanks have similar cleaning regiments. i have a candle burning now to help but hes a persistent old man lol he keeps sayn how im gonna die from mold spores in my lungs yada yada ... it smells lik it did before i put all the tanks in imho... i think hes just trying to sabotage my hobby

If it is coming from excess dampness and not a leak I would try DampRid. It pulls moisture out of the air. A lot of people use it in their basements to prevent and control mold.

Have you ever tested the relative humidity of the room ? Thats where I'd start . Find out what humidity levels you are dealing. How much water for sure do you loose a given 24 hr period in the 12'x12 room or 144 sq ft area .

I agree it is probably the humidity from all those tanks. CHeck that and run a dehumidifier if necessary you can pick them up fairly cheap, keep an eye out for scratch and dent sales or even a used unit.
