monticap next to leather finger possible??

    i have monti cap., can i put a leather finger next to it?? if not, minimum how far leather finger should be from monti cap.? here is my tank pic, planning to put it on the left of the pic... my tank is 15"x15"x15" cube.......

    oh well thats embarrasing.... LOL umm i still think they might release toxins, but i'm not sure.

    how many gallons is your tank?

    My opinion is

    keep the leather as far away from any SPS corals as possible
    run a quality activated carbon to remove any chems released by this type of soft coral
    as som3reef3r suggests above, leathers and toadstools are both armed with chemicals that they can release in order to defend their territory or to increase their territory

    placing the leather down stream of the Monti may also be a good idea
    water going over the monti then getting to the leather is a better option than the other way around IMO as that gives the chems released a chance to be diluted before they get anywhere near the SPS and a chance for the carbon to filter it out and further dilute the toxins in the set up

    Leathers and toadstools all release toxins for warfare. You will want heavy carbon filtration to limit the effect of the toxin. I would not put the two corals near each other unless the flow from leather goes away from the monti.
