I Have About A 5 Inch Tall Montipora. It Is A Dark Pink With Light Pink Tips. I Recently Repositioned It And Broke one Of The "Shelvs" Off. And Just The Other Day I Bought A Blueberry Monti Frag. IF I Take That Frag And Put It On A Rock Touching The Broken Pink Piece, Will They End Up Growing Their Colors Together? Because I Think A Bright Blue And Pink Monti Would Be RealLy Awesome :)

Hi There! They would end up growing together, but they would also kill each other. My friend has a Seasons Greetings Monti that he's fragged a bunch, and all the frags grew together on the rack. I don't know EXACTLY how 2 different species would react to each other, Coral warfare, probably.

What i think you are referring to is coral grafting. Which has been done accidentally with a coral spawning event or manually by placing the same exact species next to each other and letting them "fuse" together. You would be doing this manually but the Montipora has to be exactly the same species or they will fight and just grow around each other. with well over 80 species of Montipora, must misidentified, it will be very difficult to find two of the same species with different colors. You have better odds of a spawning event induced graft like seen here in Steve Garrett Grafted Millepora.
