I was target feeding some of my coral today and I happened to put a little bit of phyto on a frag of montipora with the pumps and all off as usual. Then after feeding I left and a few hours later when I happened to look at it a part of it had turned white i guess where the phyto had settled. Whats going on? Is the color gonna come back? Did I just start to kill my monti?

Are you sure it was phytoplankton? Phyto is impossible to see with the naked eye, its simply green water... To me it would sound like you got a little salt creep or something on the piece and that is what caused the bleaching...

If it is healthy it should heal up quick, maybe a week tops.

I've had a white spot appear on my monti cap after a small piece of debris fell on it. It healed up very quickly, in a few days, so it should be ok.

IMO monti caps are very forgiving considering that it's an SPS
