    Hi,
May have a problem with Montipora cap coral. Starting to notice white blotchy markings on the top surface of the coral, its not red bug bite or some kind of slug feeding off of the coral, I don’t think! May be too much light or not enough water current? Not shore. Can any one shine some light on this?
    Thanks,

On some of my montis if the flow is too strong I notice that ,I would first post some pics, second monitor it and third potentially move it.

    Good luck

how long have you had it? Do you have any other montis in the tank? I had a monti that had Monti Eating Nudis and destroyed the whole colony within a couple days of getting it. If it is MEN then it will spread very fast and only chance of saving it is to frag all the bad pieces away...however pics need to be seen.

here it is shortly after I placed it in tank...it was fragged the day that I got it so I thought it was just from that

day 2 or 3 it went all downhill FAST!

this was in a matter of a day or 2 at the most. I dipped the coral and treated with meds but it kept getting worse. so I fragged it....and within a day the frags progressed:

EVERY piece of monti was destroyed...I would keep fragging and fragging. I did a highly toxic treatment on it and it slowed it a day or 2 then it progressed just as fast..so I finally got rid of the last piece...which had no active sign of disease but I knew it would. I left it out of the tank so it would slime up and I could maybe see the eggs and that...well that little piece that did not look like it had any was COVERED..and this was after about 5 dips and medication

I have been without a Monti in my tank for about 3 months now and hopefully starved the little critters out. I just placed one in my tank a couple days ago and praying that one does not pop back up again. But always, always dip monti before putting them in your tank.

Hopefully it is just too much flow on it...I will keep my fingers crossed

I had the little Bastards too. I lost several smaller pieces before I found out how to kill them and the eggs.

I used Hikari PraziPro Parasite Treatment, I removed all my Monti's from the tank and dipped them and them put them a bare quarantine tank. I kept them in the quarantine tank for a full month dipping them once a week and watching for the nudis the whole time.

I have put them back in my display tanks and so far have not seen any more and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I wont.

I lost several of my favorite Monti's, my Purple Rim Montipora Confusa, Tyree Idaho Grape montipora and my superman. I learned a very valuable lesson during all this, I will never put another Coral, snail, crab or fish in my display tank without putting them in a quarantine tank.

One of my montis was doing what it sounds like yours is doing.. I found out the culprit was a small bali slimer frag that was releasing toxins and my monti was taking the blunt of it.. Removed the balislimer frag and my monti has returned back to its deep burgandy/maroon self..
