Hey guys, just made a cheap moon LED setup for me nano tank. Here it is!

Firstly I found this little gem from Jaycar

Its basically sticky tape with blue surface mount LEDs on it. Runs off 12V DC, about 200mA would do the trick.

A bit of soldering required but once its done you can stick it where you want the "moon" to be and plug it in!

I put mine on the light fixture bracket, it angles down slightly and creates some areas with shadows and some lighter areas in the tank. You also get a nice ripple effect from the surface movement!

And here it is in action!

If your not comfortable with soldering and and chopping up plug packs etc then I suggest you dont try this, as you are dealing with water and mains voltage!

A strip of 3 LEDs will set you back $7 AUD. I have plug packs comming out my ears and was able to find a suitable one that had been retired.

Sorry i should have explained better, you buy the LEDs in groups of 3, the picture is from the Jaycar website. The picture does look bright only because of the phone i used to take the photo. I'll try and get a better photo of it using the SLR but judging the brightness is hard :(

They are surface mount LEDs, about 1mm square on the tape so you can imagine they do not put out too much light. I like the way half the tank stays in shadows, gives an awsome look in real life.
