i've tried many different foods, no interest. he's starting to get weak. any tricks? he's about 4 years old. he came from sri lanka. 29 inches long. looks alot like a whitemouth, but isn't. i moved him to my reef tank in hopes better conditions will help him. :-/

I had a snowflake that didn't eat for almost 8 weeks, I've read that eels will go into a phase where they will not eat for long periods of time, when my snowflake broke out of his "funk" he ate like a champ

I'm not sure if this is whats going on with your moray but I suppose its possible

They can get broody, but also can get turned off of prepared foods if there was a bad feeding incident. I always and fed my moray once he was weaned off of live for that reason. (DISCLAIMER: and feeding toothy dangerous predators is not smart)

There are to main options. First is live food. Critters love to eat the natural way, look into getting some ghost shrimp and feeder fish, not goldfish. Guppies can be acclimated to salt over the course of a week or two, or you can just drop them in and the last a couple hours. Secondly, the couple who run lionfishlair.com are amazing at keeping predators. Look up their page and maybe message Greg or Renee here. They have a contraption called a stealth stick that you can make or soon purchase from thier site that is low profile and doesn't have the drawbacks of a conventional feeding stick.

Good luck, I hope he pulls through. I am pretty sure my narrow diet of silversides contributed to the death of my moray a year or two early, so make sure to feed a varied and healthy diet when he comes around.

i've tried squid, shrimp, scallops, mussels, oysters, and crab meat. he shows no interest in live fish. i've eft it in the tank for him, jiggled it, bounced it off his nose. nothing. i'll check out the site you mentioned. i'd hate to lose him. thanks, guys.

Good luck. Loved my snowflake I had years ago, always fed him by hand.

    +1

It would be helpful to know the exact species as some do have strong preferences, but I'd definitely try the shrimp and other live fares to get him going again.

Another+1 to ghost shrimp. That's what I started a loin on and worked well. Not sure how long they'll last in salt water though if he doesn't go after them.
