I got a euro reef rs 135 and the collection cup gets pretty funky after a few days with algae and fish poop. After cleaning the collection cup with a toothbrush and reinstalling the cup the skimmer seems to spit more bubbles. Im thinking its cause the bubbles have less gunk to adhere to as it rises so these bubbles escape back into the sump and more make it to the display. After it gets a coating of scum theres less bubbles in the display, anyone else experience this?

I dont have that skimmer, but what I've done in the past is to place a sponge right where the water comes out of the skimmer and that takes care of the bubbles. From my exp. the more fine bubbles you have the better. Luna

As the cup and skimmer riser tub gets dirty the skimmer gets less effective. I would take measures to deal with the bubbles when the skimmer is clean. then clean the skimmer as often as you can. there are hundreds of ways to help elliminate bubbles in you system. Filter floss, a Sponge, baffles

The gunk that collects around the skimmer's inside container will reduce the amount of bubbles and decrease the skimmers efficiency and effectiveness, hence the reason for ensureing the skimmer gets cleaned constantly.

Yes, you want to have as many micro bubbles as possible to have the dissolved organics and inorganics attach themselves to the bubbles to be removed from your aquarium.

I understand what everyone is saying but its still seems i have better skimming and more collection once the cup gets a slight coating of gunk.
