More bulbs of the same wattage = more wattage??

    In other words, if you have 1 bulb that is 39 watts and you add a second 39w bulb, is it really 78w or is it still 39 watts just spread out over a larger area? Or is it somewhere in between like maybe say mid-50's?

    For all intents and purposes it is 78 watts.

    It all depends on your ballast, but if you are set up properly it's 78watts(probably a little more for ballast inefficiency).
