hd maybe crapped out.. open up case and make sure those connections are tight..the ones that goto that HD. after that boot up cpu, but right away hit esc, del, f10 or something to get into CMOS. then check your HD settings and see if its detecting it in there.. you have to be quick on the keyboard because you'll only a like 2 seconds to get into CMOS menu.. I might be wrong, but like I said before im a retired computer geek :)

well thats not a good sign.. only thing you can do is try to take out that hard drive and hooking it up to another computer (daisy chain) as a second drive probly D: and boot up with the normal C: and see if it detects that drive under my computer or cmos.. the boot sector might be bad, if its only the boot sector than you might be able to get any information of that drive before you trash it. after backing up your valuable info off that drive, formating it (erasing everythin) completely might make it work, if not then theres a mechanical problem.. and its probly 100% done in.. :(

its been a long time, so calling a computer repair tech/business might be a option.

    sorry for the bad news.

If its not detecting the HD it more than likely dead, but also possible that your IDE/Sata cable that connects the HD to the motherboard died or the HD port your connected to on the motherboard died. Would first test the HD on a known working pc with with known working cables...if it doesn't work HD is toast.
