    Whats the one piece of equipment you would advise a fellow reefer not to cheap out on? You can only pick one piece of equipement ie: lights, skimmer, sterilizer, etc. Whats your reasoning for it ?

    I'm gonna go with CIRCULATION, and lights. With good circ., live rock and proper stocking some folks actually go skimmerless! Not me though..

    You can achieve good circ with either quality return pumps or powerheads. Live rock and DSB can theoretically negate the need for a skimmer (agree with you, must have skimmer!). But nothing can replace quality lighting! Never skimp on the lighting!
