i really wanted to hang my 48" Marineland fixture from the ceiling but my worried partner completely veto it. i tried to explain that it isn't going to fall on the tank, break everything and kill our security deposit, i even said that there is no way i will put my precious tank at risk (therefore there isn't any risk) but it didn't help. right now i mount it on the tank with the default mounting legs but i really want to get it higher.
i found this Tek-Light Tank Bracket Kit | T5 Lighting | Lighting Systems | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com with a review saying that it can be used with other than the tek-light fixture but i dunno if i should trust that.
does anyone have an idea on what should i do?

IMO, you should get that un-veto'd (if that's a word). I used the 50 lb stud solver to hang both of my TEK lights. They are very easy to install, and when done properly, there's no way that they would just fall out of the ceiling.

i don't have a canopy, my tank is open, i mount the fixture with legs (like the ones you see in the picture). i'm not really sure what i'm suppose to do with those blocks...?

i can not un-vetoed it, trust me, it's impossible. i got all the equipment to hang it, even a stud finder so it won't even be hanging from the dry wall. not use. :-/
