I am having a lot of difficulty figured out the best way to mount the float switch. It seems DA has manufactured these float switches for sump use only with a very low water level. I have a 40 gallon Seaclear acrylic tank with a middle brace. Basically not your normal standard black rim around the top of the glass tanks. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to orient this in a good way to make it work. Please let me know if im going about this all wrong. Thanks.

please put up a pic of the float switch mount and the rim you are wanting it attached to - and some indication of the water line too.

You could get a small piece of 3/8" thick acrylic, drill a hole in it the size of the mounting post so you can screw in the float switch then glue the acrylic to the back of the tank at the appropriate height. You may need to temporarily empty some water and will definitely need to clean the area (with RO water).

I figured out a way to mount it, attached to the framing of my canopy. Its ugly, but its a for sure mount that will never move or become flawed. Now only if my toms aqualifter wasnt such a weak pump..... It cant pump the 3-4' i need from the bottom of the stand to the top. The only other current option i have is using an Aqueon 125gph powerhead, sealing the output nozzle and attaching airline tubing. This will pump far more than I need it to, but with the many failsafes of the RKL it will work. I would rather just have a regular pump though instead of having to seal the spray nozzle (output) with something.....

I got my pump from Autotopoff.com. Cheap and it works like a champ (pumps 8') and was cheap! Did I mention it was cheap?

I wanted a way to mount this switch so that it would for sure not move, and likely out of the reach of snails and other critters. I have screwed it and attached it to my canopy. It easily comes off but it is secured very well. It is ugly but it works.

    Any other advice and recommendations?

I have DIY sort of modded my extra aquaclear 20 so that it pumps the distance (3-4 feet) from the inside of my stand to my tank. It should work good, gotta setup the ATO settings on my RKL still though.
