How feasible/how much stress would it be to move a small 5g reef tank twice a year between home and my dorm 2 hours away. What damage would I be risking? How would most corals fare this move? I will not be having fish in this tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Empty the tank completely, make use of cheap coolers to move everything.
    Keep the rock wet.
Keep a cup of the sand.
Someone recently posted that they put each fish in a butter container, with holes in it and then in a container of water.
I moved my tanks all during school.
Most hardy soft corals and lps should be fine.

I think BB would be the way to go imo

Thanks for the help. I was considering BB but I've been weighing the extra stability and the ease of transfer a bit. Not really sure what route I should take.

At least with BB you dont have to deal with messing with sand each time. And personally i think they can look really cool. paint the outside of the bottom black for a clean look
