What should Rocketman do about moving stuff to a combined tank?

  1. Give the Potters away and sanitize the rock from the non-SPS tank

  2. Keep the Potters, but get rid of the weed corals.

  3. Keep the corals, they've been OK so far - but get rid of the Potters

As some of you may know, I currently have a dual 175g reef setup with primarily SPS in one tank and miscellaneous other corals and other fish in the second. The SPS tank is really my focus. However, as others of you may know I am going to be moving and combining my two individual tanks into a single 300g - 375g tank - dominated by SPS. I have a couple concerns...

    Here are my issues:

    - I have a Potters Angel in my non-SPS tank that I've had since this system has been going. When I got him he was very small and he has grown up into a big, fat pig of a beautiful potters. He was one of the very few fish that survived my Velvet attack. Normally I would never put a dwarf angel in an SPS-dominant tank, but this particular little guy has a special place in my heart and I can't see myself getting rid of him. Do I put him in or leave him out? It should be noted that I have a few SPS in his current tank that seem to be doing OK (all montis).

    - My non-SPS tank has both blue clove polyps and GSP in it. It has not taken over like it has in many of my previous tanks. I believe this is because I keep the water super-clean with an over-powered skimmer and they don't have the nutrients to grow like they normally would. The question is whether I try to sanitize the rock they are on in that tank or just move all the rock over. The GSP would be relatively easy to sanitize. The clove polyps likely not.

Maybe frag some of your sps and move it into his tank as a "test run"

My angels don't touch coral.... yet

can you try him in the current sps tank and see what happens? That one isn't really an option on the poll :) in a way it's roll the dice with a test run.

Option #6: Send Potters to Vinny, send BCP and GSP corals to Mr. Bill. :D

Personally, I would give it a go. You already have sps in his tank and he's been behaving so far. If you keep him well-fed, he shouldn't do any real damage even if he does begin to nip at them, especially in such a large tank.

My potters will nip at LPS but not enough to harm them, and never has touched my SPS.

Best thing I've done in this hobby in 13 years is start a tank with dry rock I built into cool shapes. option 7: Sell all LR from the softy tank and incorporate the encrusted sps pieces into the best formations you can think of..... and keep the potters angel getting a trio of potter's wrasse to join him.
