I love black sand too. I know Daniel072 mentioned that when he had it, it was difficult to keep clean. I've seen on here someone that had a mix of black and white, that may be the best option. No personal experience though but have always loved the looks of tanks with black sand, makes the other colors in the tank and the fish colors pop.

I wouldn't worry about the sloshing of the water stressing the fish all that much. It will of coarse stress them out, but they've survived being taken from the ocean and put into bags, then shipped to the warehouse, then to your LFS, then to your house and made it. So a 6 hour drive won't be that hard on them. They can usually survive 24-48 hours in a bag with enough oxygen. But like another person said, make sure they're loaded last, and unloaded first and you'll be fine. Good luck on the move! And let us know how it all turns out!

All of the info above is great!!! Cigarette lighter pump, or battery pump. The important thing is keeping 02 in the water during the trip.

I'm not a bucket lover.... the salt damage in the back of the SUV tells the story. They slosh. I was stressed hearing it for 20 minutes. I would have had a coronary if I had to drive 6 long bumpy hours. Put a lid on there and a little hole for rigid airline with an air pump and another for air exchange.

In the last 6 years I've moved about 60 tanks and every time is a learning experience. The smoothest it ever went was when I bagged the critters. Can your LFS give you some oxygen? I have Kordon breather bags if you would like some. They eliminate the oxygen concern.

They might be able to give me O2. The one's I go to down here are pretty helpful and generous.

    What's a Kordon breather bag?

I would try aquatic warehouse. They are really good there. And I'm sure they'll help you out.

That's actually where I go for most of my stuff. Have you been to Aqua SD? Their coral selection is ridiculous.
