I have a piece of live rock that i bought about a week ago and i just noticed today that it has a red mushroom coral underneath it. It looks like it is reaching for some light, but the way my tank is currently set up, I can't flip the rock. Will it move on it's own? Should i move it in some way? any ideas?

Can't make any promises, but FWIW, they have moved in my tank.

Mine move all the time. Anytime I move a rock with one on it and it doesnt like where i moved it to it lets go and moves to another rock. I wouldnt worry.

I just got my first coral....went for a red mushroom. Now as long as it lives I'll work on my screen name.

For now I've been keeping him on the small rock it came with, but my snails keep knocking it off and today I found it (and the rock) on the sand once again, this time he had split the cap right to the center......Is this going to heal or am I going to have a gimp shroom.

Also, there's this little polyp looking thing half an inch away from my shroom that I'm assuming is another one(2 for one deal) kinda clear with the same red coloring inside of it, just not developed. Is this just a new spawn you think?

Most likely it will finish splitting then heal into two complete mushrooms. The smaller one is probably a spawn, possibly forming from a piece of the base.

Nice, I cant wait. I had read a bit more on mushrooms after posting this and it seems that they are very easy to propagate.

From the look of this one you're right, it has split even farther than it was earlier. I really thought it was going to go through an adjustment phase for a few days but mushrooms just settle right in and get to work. I've already fed it last night and watched it eat the food right up, I'm very exited now to see this thing through.

Well, looks like the red didn't split after all, going to heal itself, but the little guy I had in the side has disappeared and is hiding somewhere, is it normal if all my mushroom eats is plankton pellets? Everything I have red up to now says to feed them "meaty" things and maybe some phytoplankton, but this one refused to eat the brine I set on him, but so long as it's eating I suppose I've nothing to worry on.
