I was wondering if some of you guys can help.

I am thinking of moving my Volitains Lionfish, along with my Fu Manchu, from my 96 gallon FOWLR. My thought is to add a Black Volitains, also. Those will be the only fish in the tank.

As of right now, i am leaning towards putting the majority of the rock in the refugium.

My question is, how big should the tank be, in order to house the lions for life? I will be going with a high tank, as opposed to long.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum. Sorry if it's posted wrong.

The voliatian will get to be big fairly fast..so I would go with as big of a tank as possible....at least a 150g if not bigger. I had got a voliatan for Christmas last year and it outgrew my 75g rather quickly. I took it back to the LFS and they sold it to someone who I think had a 125g and in a matter of months it was returned. Simba is a monster...he is now in the shark tank at the store....Biggest one I have seen

I agree. I had just one volitans in my 150G and wouldn't even think of putting another in it. They don't wander much, but they do need the water volume to break down the waste they produce.

I used a tupperware container when I moved mine from my 20G into the 150. He was about 5" long at that point. I scooted him into that with my algae scraper. Mine was very trusting so he wasn't scared. I swear I have had the strangest fish.

Yeah..Simba was very friendly for a lion...I used a large bowl and got into that and then transferred him to a bucket. Never had a lick of trouble with him! One of the guys at the LFS actually "pets" him where he is now  The size he is...I would never do that.

But I did get stung bad moving my parents dwarf..but it was not his fault. He jumped into the back of the filter and I thought I would pull the pump up and did not even look to see him and he was sitting on top of the pump and I went to grab the pump and the rest is history. I was taken him to my tank...I named him Killer. I kept him before giving him to somebody else who wanted him for the office pet. Unfortunately somebody got fired there and poured a whole bottle of hot sauce into his tank for revenge:angry: Killer was a nice fish...even though it took me a while not to be scared of him

what is wrong with people i know its just a fish but its still a living animal, not to mention destruction of property. i hope they took him to court. give him a nice court charge to put on his resumee. see how his interviewer like the thought of him killing their pet.

oh 4 your knowledge, animal cruelty has a strong correlation to abuse of women and children.
