Congrats Magnus, Brute trash cans are very heavy duty and you can buy wheels for them also.

Thanks guys... the big trash can is a great idea for water... as far as the rocks.... most of them have something encrusted... so ill need something capable of providing horizontal storage so I don't have to stack them and to b sturdy... I will have some research to do while in the store. Hopefully I won't have to spend more than $100 for all the containers I need... bank account is hitting the threshold.

Bump! Got the containers and trash can for the transfer.

One question remains and that is: how am I going to dig the shrimp and goby out of the burrows in the sand bed? I'm assuming I can't just leave them there for 1 & 3/4 hrs with very low water, can i?

For the shrimp & goby you can wait till most of the rock is out then lift thiers to grab the goby, you mayeven get the shrimp. I didn't when i transferred tanks, but it showed up later.

Also, because of the heat I'd move it first thing in the morning before it gets hot.

Congrats on getting married and best of luck for your new life and the tank move.

Moving is done, guys. Unfortunately taking the tank and sump/fuge apart took longer than I anticipated and I finished unloading my truck at 11:30 pm. I could not find the goby after taking all the rocks out... and I had to scoop all the sand out of the aquarium. Being that it was so late, I was unable to set my tank back up last night, so I made 10 gallons of water and transferred my fish there along with the snails and the shrimp... I really hope that the goby (slim) is inside one of the rocks I pulled out... otherwise he is burried in the sand... and I doubt he will make it out of there alive. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm going to the store and I'm getting some stuff to set my tank up again.

Oh, by the way... my coral r still in the totes since 5pm yesterday... I already put heaters and pumps for circulation this morning... but they spent all night without any of those.... I hope all my acros, millis, montis, dendro, torch and frogspawn will b fine... any advice b4 I head to the store? I already have egg crate for the bottom of the tank... then ill set the rock and put sand... just not as much this time... I may have to move in about a year when my lease expires here and I ain't scooping all that sand out again. Anyone in the chattanooga area needs about 40 lbs of live sand?

Sounds like you are in good shape. Good luck on the goby. I think your corals will be fine considering what they go through getting shipped to us.

+1 You might want to make sure you have some Prime or Amquel handy just in case you observe any kind of mini cycle.;)

The moving turned out to b a nightmare. I'm on my 3 day @ my new place and all 3 of them have been a battle to keep my coral and fish alive. I've lost 3 fish the shrimp, all of my acros along with my montiporas, and the softies seem to b hanging on along with my frogspawn (slowly melting away), the dendro and the candy cane which seem to be doing the best.
This was all due to a major ammonia spike since I had to scoop out the sand bed in order to transport the aquarium. That's when I lost the goby because I could not find him hurried in the sand.
I've used ammo lock and a whole bottle of aqua life complete... which has the same descriptions as prime. I dosed the ammo lock according to the directions and my ammonia is currently reading 0, but I'm sure its a false reading. I was just now able to catch my two ocelaris since they were weak and heavily breathing... they're in a hospital tank with some aqua life complete and stress coat.

I'm really sad to see my fish die... I hope the last two will make it... I'll have to start all over again.

I still don't have my fuge with the skimmer online. I am running copious amounts of carbon. I have to re-plumb the whole fuge and I haven't unpacked a single box :'-(
