My point was though what if you weren't home the pump kicked off and dumped 10gallons of salt down the drain kicked back off and topped off with fresh. The salinity wouldn't swing that much as I recently just dump like 8 gallons on my floor through my skimmer and topped off with fresh but it would be something to try and avoid if not for the sole purpose of wasting money on salt and water. I'd look into using one of those plastic outdoor pond things just try and fid one with a smaller foot print and that's taller. Or you could look at tractor supply for their animal troughs. You could use one of those for a sump then pump water into a refuge or split the drain and have the refuge overlflow into the sump.

Very good point. And that animal thing is exactly what I was thinking about using. Best part of putting sump in the basement i think is the possibility to maybe double the amount of water in your sump. Also easy to add a fuge of whatever size you want.

Bingo! This is why i want/need it to be down there...im going to talk to a guy near me who help sets up aquariums and installs them into walls and such and see what he thinks...i may just have him do it so i dont have to think about all this math like things...math is def not my strong point lol.

Get the table set up and the sump your gonna use then you can get a good measurement of how much head your gonna have (hee hee). lol Then when you start looking for a pump most of them will give you a breakdown of gph at different heights.

What size tank do you have and how much flow are you looking to have through the sump?

Can't build furniture? Build another simple stand and have a display fuge :) I'm full of terrible advice.
