I'm in the process of moving a 90 bowfront with live rock. I removed everything from the tank and placed the live rock in a plastic tub with water from the tank to preserve them. Everything else about the tank will be cleaned. Question; would you try to use the original water from the tank for start up? It's chemistry is fine. ; How should I clean off the crud from the LR without killing it? :-/

If the water is good, then yes reuse it. Just store as much as possible in buckets. For the rock, I would just get a cheap tooth brush and scrub it off in a bucket of tank water, but don't reuse that water when done.
Leave the sandbed alone in the tank with just enough water to cover it while moving.

I would use the existing saltwater to rinse the liverock. If you are inclined to scrub, be very gentle and use a toothbrush or something, but don't remove the rock from the saltwater. Personally, I am not a believer in scrubbing though, it may disrupt the bacteria on and in the rock and cause bigger issues. What are you trying to scrub off?

Also, there shouldn't be much if any bacteria in the water, so, as long as you make up new water and match the parameters close to the old water it should be fine to replace 100% of the old water. Again, though, the bacteria is not in the water, but on the rocks, so, be careful if you decide to "clean" the rocks... I would just swirl around in the old water maybe, without scrubbing, especially if that would accomplish your goals. Light scrubbing with a toothbrush is okay, but you may not want to do all the rock at once, maybe do some, wait a week, do some more. etc...

The gravel had to be removed in order to move the tank (weaklings) so I've rinsed that off. Sounds good to use the old water to rinse the LR off. The tank had a very large puffer in it that died several months ago. Nothing bot a few hermit crabs and snails since, little or no maintenance either. Has a lot of "crud" thus the need to rinse off at least.
